Sensex up 171 pts in intra-noon trade

Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) in the intra-noon trade has pared gains by 25 points from the early high of 12,932.80 reached in the morning, as profit booking emerged in the Auto, Consumer Durables and the Health Care sector.

Currently the sensex is trading up at 12,907.49, which is 171.07 points more than the previous close.

Profit booking is a norm at the higher level, however experts believe, this time round sensex will maintain its higher level on account of more than expected second quarter company financials.

In the intra-noon trade Auto sector declined by 0.43 per cent, Consumer Durables by 0.15 per cent and Health Care by 0.09 per cent.

However, IT and Bankex have maintained the lead by 1.12 and 1.32 per cent respectively.

Major gainers on the BSE-30 index are HDFC bank, TCS, ICICI, Hindalco, Reliance Industries, ITC, ONGC, L&T, Cipla and Satyam Computers all up between 1.32 to 6.20 per cent.

Besides the losers are Ranbaxy lab, Tata Motors, Dr Reddy's Lab, Bajaj Auto, HEro Honda, , Gujarat Ambuja, SBI, Reliance Commnications, Grasim industries and Reliance Energy all down between 0.19 to 0.69 per cent.
