SBT to give Rs 10 lakh for campaign on communicable diseases

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 16 (UNI) The State Bank of Travancore (SBT) will contribute Rs ten lakh to the campaign for controlling communicable diseases in the state.

The SBT had given the amount in view of the epidemic outbreak of suspected Chikungunya/Dengue in certain areas of the state like Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram, a release said here today.

The amount would be used as part of coordinated efforts undertaken by the Health Department for control of epidemics and to alleviate the suffering of the people.

The Bank, which has been in the forefront of social activities in the State for many years, had, earlier this year, donated Rs 35 lakh for purchasing a Mammogram Unit for the Sree Chithra Medical Centre.

SBT also donated Rs 60 lakh towards tsunami relief in the state.
