SBI to set up ATMs in NE stations
Aizwal, Oct 16 (UNI) In a bid to facilitate passengers, North East Frontier Railway (NFR), in association with State Bank of India (SBI), has proposed to set up ATMs in most of the railway stations of the region.
''We are conducting a feasibility study to select the ATM locations in the railway stations,'' SBI Assistant General Manager Mukul Chandra Jeishi said here today.
The project is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was signed between Indian Railways and State Bank of India (SBI) recently, sources said.
He said that 23 stations have already been identified in the North East where ATMs would be installed.
''Once these ATMs become operational in the railway stations, tickets for train journey across the country can be booked,'' Mr Jeishi said while adding that booking train tickets would become much easier.
He said the SBI has agreed to set up more than 600 such ATMS across the country at different railway stations considering the number of passengers and the requirement of the stations.
The proposed ATM installation is a part of the programme to improve passenger amenities, he said adding the project would be completed by the next financial year.
