SAD, BJP project Parkash Singh Badal as next CM of Punjab

Chandigarh, Oct 16 (UNI) Scotching rumours about Akali MP Sukhbir Singh Badal holding his father's legacy of the Punjab chief ministership, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today announced that Parkash Singh Badal would be the CM for the fourth time, if the Akali-BJP combine came to power.

The Akali stalwart remained the best bet for the Akali-BJP combine as the senior leadership of both the parties projected him as the undisputed chief ministerial candidate at a massive rally here.

SAD MPs Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Sukhbir Badal, other Akali leaders Capt Kanwaljit Singh, Jagdev Singh Talwandi, Balwinder Singh Bhunder and Bibi Jagir Kaur pointed out in their repective speeches that the senior Badal would form the next government after the victory of the Akali-BJP combine.

The BJP leadership including Himachal Pradesh's ex-chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and Punjab party unit chief Avinash Rai Khanna also stated that the people of Punjab would be looked after well under the regime of Parkash Singh Badal.

''We must make Parkash Singh Badal the chief minister for the wellbeing of the people of Punjab,'' Mr Avinash Rai Khanna appealed to the masses in his address at the rally.
