RSS apprehends nexus between terrorists and Maoists
New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has raised alarm over a nexus building between the islamic terrorists and the Maoists.
''The news about newly created M-I (Maoist-Islamist) axis is disturbing,'' an RSS release SAID adding, ''the executive body is categorical that state-of-the-art training and equipment should be made available to our security forces fighting islamic and maoist terrorism.'' Siginificantly, the RSS blamed the apologists for the terrorists as much as the terrorists themselves who, according to them, were allowed by the UPA government to have a field day.
It assumes significance, coming close on the heels of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah's interview aired on TV channel yesterday. Farooq's strong support for Afzal's clemency has since snowballed into a controversy.
The release put the matter into a perspective saying,''the Supreme Court has categorically stated in its recent judgement that considerations of caste, creed, and political loyalties are irrelevant and fraught with discrimination in granting clemency.'' The meet expressed concern over the recent emergence of homegrown roots of terrorism.
