Rains likely in Southern coastal states

Pune, Oct 16 (UNI) Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

They are also likely to occur at isolated places in Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal and south interior Karnataka.

Dry weather will prevail over the Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka.

The south-west monsoon has further withdrawn from the entire northeastern states, north Bay, some parts of central Bay, remaining parts of the Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, some parts of Rayalaseema, entire Telangana, entire north interior Karnataka, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa and some more parts of central Arabian Sea.

The south-west monsoon has been active in Kerala.

In the regions from where the south-west monsoon withdrawal has taken place, day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra, Kutch, north Konkan, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and some parts of Orissa.

The temperatures were above normal in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Haryana, west Rajasthan, Gujarat and north Madhya Maharashtra. They were below normal in Kashmir and were normal over Telangana.

Night temperatures were below normal in Meghalaya, interior Orissa and east Uttar Pradesh. They were appreciably above normal in north-west Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat Region.

The temperatures were above normal in Assam, West Bengal, Sikkim, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, south-east Rajasthan, south Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra, Kutch, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka. They were normal over Uttaranchal, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

Very light rains had occurred at isolated places in the Gangetic West Bengal, Saurashtra, Kutch and north interior Karnataka.

Rain or thundershowers had occurred at most places in Kerala, at a few places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

They also occurred at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gujarat Region, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema, coastal and south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
