Mulayam slams Centre for inflation

Moradabad, Oct 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today held the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the centre responsible for the continous rise in prices.

On the occasion of distributing the unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidyadhan Yojna, the Samajwadi Party supremo said if other governments would not follow the model of UP, they would not be able to remain in power.

Attacking the Centre for inflation, he charged the UPA government with''lacking'' welfare policies for farmers, youth, workers and women. ''Though all political parties have become united against the SP but the next government would again be formed by it'' he asserted.

The former Defence Minister also claimed that Centre had no clear-cut foreign policy and as a result, the relations with the neighbouring countries had deferiorated.

Mr Yadav said the state government had implemented several welfare schemes for all the sections of the society and it was fighting for changing the system. It was going in the direction of balanced development of the state, he added.

Charging the Centre with creating hurdles in providing gas for the Reliance Power Project, he said that this gas would be available after the elections in U P.

Mr Yadav appealed to the youths, especially girls, to come forward for changing the socio-economic system and inequality prevailing in the society. He directed all the District Magistrates for making the arrangements for girls' admission for higher education. He also appreciated the administration for making good arrangements for the distribution of unemployment allowance and Kanya Vidyadhan Yojna cheques.
