MPHC strikes down order against ex-DGP
Indore, Oct 16 (UNI) The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court today struck down a lower court's order, and the consequent first information report, against the the state's former director-general of police Swaraj Puri.
After hearing arguments on Mr Puri's revision petition, Justice S S Dwivedi dismissed the September 15 order of Additional Sessions Judge Akhilesh Pandya, who had directed the state Economic Offences Wing (EOW) to initiate an investigation under Section 156(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The EOW filed a case in Bhopal under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Mr Puri was transferred as DG (Home Guard).
City-resident Mahesh Garg accused Mr Puri of bypassing rules while securing admission for his son Shreyas in an engineering college. The Indian Police Service officer was represented by Advocate Satish Bagdia.
