Man killed, jewellery worth lakhs robbed

Hamirpur, Oct 16 (UNI) A man was hacked to death and five members of his family were injured by twelve armed miscreants here last night, police today said.

The incident took place in Sumerganj town late last night, where 12 bandits stormed into the house of Shivlal Soni-- a resident of Gurugup area, and killed him and brutally injured his wife Mamta (50), daughters Brijesh Kumari (24), Pooja (22), Sandhya (20) and son Ashish after they protested against the robbery.

Later, the miscreants decamped with jewellery worth lakhs of rupees.

The injured were rushed to hospital, where the condition of two of them was stated to be critical.

A case has been registered.
