Lashker militant overpowered, four injured, RDX seized in J
Srinagar, Oct 16 (UNI) In a rare case of bravery, people in south Kashmir overpowered a militant of Pakistan based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and handed him over to the police late last night.
In other militancy related incidents, four persons were shot at and wounded while security forces arrested a militant and recovered arms and ammunition including deadly RDX in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
An official spokesman said a militant of the LeT, Rayees Ahmad Malik, entered the house of one Gul Mohammad Dar, a businessman from village Sagoo in Pulwama district of south Kashmir last night and demanded money and vehicle. However, the inmates raised an alarm and overpowered him. He was later handed over to the police.
In another incident, militants entered the house of one Fazal Karim at Mendhar in Poonch district of Jammu region last night and fired upon the inmates with automatic weapons. Four persons, including the house owner were injured. They were hospitalised.
Security forces also arrested a militant alongwith two hand grenades at Hatlanga in the frontier district of Kupwara.
A hideout was busted at Rajouri and four detonators, four hand grenades, three kg of RDX, five gelatin rods and five meters of cordex wire were recovered. However, no one was arrested, the police said.
