KERC reduces tariff for Escoms other than BESCOM

Bangalore, Oct 16 (UNI) Denying Electricity Supply Companies(ESCOMS) of Karnataka an enhancement in tariff, the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) today reduced tariff by 10 to 20 paise per unit for both High Tension and Domestic consumers in ESCOMs other than Bangalore (BESCOM).

Releasing the Tariff Order for 2006 to newsmen here, KERC Chairman K P Pandey also announced reduction in the fixed charges for metered irrigated pump sets to Rs 30 from Rs 40 to encourage metering of pump sets by farmers.

The ESCOMS had sought an increase of about 40 paise per unit.

The order would come to effect from November One.
