Kerala Assembly pays tribute to Mathai Chacko
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 16 (UNI) Kerala Assembly today paid rich tributes to Mathai Chacko, MLA, who died of cancer last week.
In his obituary reference, Speaker K Radhakrishnan said the death of an able legislator at the age of 47 years was a big loss to the House.
He said Mr Chacko was the first person in the Kerala Assembly records to take oath as legislator in his hospital bed.
Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said as a young leader of the CPI(M), Mr Chacko had always been in the forefront to fight against corruption. ''Even from the hospital bed, he used to write to me regarding the issues in his constituency and suggest remedial measures,'' he added.
Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy said Mr Chacko was a good legislator, who presented issues in the House after doing proper homework.
The leaders of other political parties also paid tributes to the departed soul.
