Srinagar, Oct 16: In an effort to boost the pilgrimage tourism, Jammu and Kashmir government is constructing a Rs 3 crore aerial ropeway at the holy shrine of Aishmuqam in South Kashmir.

The survey for the proposed ropeway has already been completed by the Rites, a leading consultancy firm of the country and the tenders for the execution of the work are expected to be floated with in a month, minister for tourism Dilwara Mir said.

He said this will help the pilgrims to reach the shrine on the hill top.

Meanwhile, the minister ordered for taking up of the new regional Water Supply Scheme, Aishmuqam, to provide portable drinking water to the local populace and to the ever increasing devotes to the holy shrine.

The proposed Water Supply Scheme has been formulated at an estimated cost of Rs 9 crore, he added.

The Minister also inspected the proposed site for new general bus stand at Aishmuqam which is being constructed over an area of 17 kanals.
