HP launches new storage products for SMBs

Bangalore, Oct 16 (UNI) Targeting Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs), Hewlett-Packard (HP), under its 'Simply StorageWorks' initiative, today announced the launch of new products and programmes in India that will help SMBs effectively address their increasing data storage requirements.

HP also launched the industry's first easy-to-use storage system that reduced the cost and complexity for mid-market and SMBs, grappling with the challenge of exponential growth of data.

HP India Director for Enterprise Servers and Storage Hemant Tiwari told newspersons here that the new All-in-One systems deliver a comprehensive storage solution that addressed a wide variety of needs ranging from application storage management and reliable data protection to affordable data storage.

Using these systems, businesses with limited or no storage expertise would be able to store, share, manage, back up and protect their rapidly growing applications and file data in a flexible networked storage environment, he added.

Research revealed that more than 60 percent of SMBs worldwide were yet to deploy networked storage and the HP All-in-One Storage System addressed this growing market opportunity. In India, the percentage was high, Mr Tiwari said.

Currently, majority of SMBs in India were still using direct attached storage and were ready to deploy networked storage. HP had also identified database and e-mail storage, file and print services and back up and recovery as the key drivers of the SMB storage market in India, he said.

Some key growing concerns that SMBs were facing today include servers running out of capacity, lack of resources, lack of application and storage expertise and the need for guidance from a trusted advisor.
