HC orders trial court to expedite 12-year-old case
New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today ordered the trial court to expedite a 12-year-old case.
Justice AK Sikri observed that the trial court should fix charges and give orders in a 12-year-old case to be heard on 28 November before the Central Bureau of Investigation special judge Vinod Goel.
The CBI had registered on 18 April 1994 an FIR against senior police officers from Punjab on directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The FIR was registered against the present IG rank IPS officer and the then SSP Sumedh Singh Saini, SS Sandhu (SP), Paramjit Singh (SHO), Balbir Chand Tewari (Inspector).
The accused faced charges under Section 120 B, 342, 365 of IPC.
The victims - Vinod Saini, Ashok Saini, and Mukhtiar Singh - have all been traceless.
According to the CBI, the cause of offence was personal enmity between then SSP (Ludhiana) SS Saini and the victims who ran a maruti shop.
