Goa to host Junior National baseball championship from October 30
Panaji, Oct 16 (UNI) Goa will host the 18th Junior National Baseball Championship from October 30 to November 3 at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Fatorda in Margao.
Goa Baseball Association (GBA) organising committee president Dinar Tarcar and Secretary Dilip Naik jointly said at a press conference that about 1100 participants including 160 officials from 22 states will participate in the five-day league-cum-Knock out event.
Mr Naik said among the 22 states, reigning champion Delhi in the the boys event and Goa in the girls event will be seen in action to defend their title.
The other states who will vie for top honours are Punjab, Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, Haryana, UP, Manipur, Gujarat, Chandigardh, Tamilnadu, West Bengal, Orissa, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu&Kashmir who have confirmed their participation.
Mr Tarcar also said the preparations are in full swing and as Goa is known as a best team in India next to football, our main aim is to win the double crown in this championship in Goa. The coaching camp for both boys and girls team had already started under the supervision of the chief coach Dilip Naik.
The total cost estimated for the championship will be Rs 10 lakhs, Tarcar added.
He also said that GBA is planning to construct its own building complex at Borim in South Goa in near future.
