Farooq Abdullah meets Basu

Kolkata, Oct 16 (UNI) Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah met veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu at his residence here today and held talks on differfent issues.

Describing his visit as a 'courtesy call', Dr Abdulla said he talked to Mr Basu on various issues. He, however, declined to give details.

He said no discussions were held on the possibility of a Third Front.

To a question on the death sentence against Mohammad Afzal, the convict in Parliament attack case, Dr Abdulla said he was against hanging as capital punishment and would continue to fight against the practice.
