Date of filing IT returns extended in Gujarat

New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) The Centre has extended the date of filing Income Tax returns in Gujarat from October 31 to December 31 in view of the disruption caused by rains and floods in the state.

''Keeping in view the disruption caused due to heavy rains and floods in large parts of the state of Gujarat, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the last date of filing Income Tax returns and tax audit reports in the state from October 31 to December 31,'' the Finance Ministry said in a statement here today.

All tax payers, who were required to file their income tax returns by October 31 and all those who were required to file their tax audit reports U/S 44AB of the Income Tax Act, 1961, can now file their returns or audit reports by December 31, it said.
