Cong seeks victory in Varanasi, Allahabad mayoral polls

Varanasi, Oct 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Salman Khurshid today said the Congress was working hard on winning elections to the post of mayor in all 12 UP cities, especially Varanasi and Allahabad.

Interacting with newspersons here, Mr Khurshid said they had no idea as yet about whether Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi will campaign during the civic elections or not.

''It is upto the high command to decide on the matter, but considering that Mr Gandhi has been entrusted the responsibility of steering the Cong in the assembly polls, it is likely that he may hit campaign trail in the civic elections, a precursor to assembly elections,'' he added.
