BJP demands judicial probe into Mangalore violence
Mysore, Oct 16 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Karnataka unit President D V Sadananda Gowda today urged the Government to order a judicial inquiry into the communal violence in the coastal Dakshina Kannada district and the Puttur explosion, in which five people were killed yesterday.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said only a judicial probe would bring to light the facts and expose those behind the violence.
He would talk to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Home Minister M P Prakash in this regard, he added.
Alleging that the Congress was attempting to reap political mileage out of the issue, the BJP leader expressed surprise over the officials stating that fireworks had caused yesterday's incident, without making any inquiry.
Deputy Chief minister and BJP leader B S Yediyurappa endorsed Mr Gowda's views.
It may be recalled here that the communal violence in the district had claimed two lives and left over 90 people injured, besides damaging property worth crores of Rupees.
