Wanted criminal shot dead in encounter

Lucknow, Oct 15 (UNI) A notorious criminal was gunned down in an encounter in Muzaffarnagar district last night, police today said.

Two fire arms and a vehicle were recovered from the spot.

The incident took place under Civil Lines police station area, where police intercepted three suspected persons. On being challenged, they opened fire.

In an exchange of fire, a history-sheeter Sushil Kumar carrying a reward of Rs 2,500 was shot dead. His aides, however, managed to abscond.

As many as 12 cases of loot and murder were pending against him in Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur and Haridwar.

A manhunt launched to nab his aides.
