Twenty youth ransack Aurangabad Mayor's office
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Oct 15 (UNI) Twenty youth allegedly belonging to ''Valmiki Samaj'' today ransacked the Auraugabad Mayor's private office situated in Gulmandi area.
About 20 people barged into the office of Mayor Kishanchand Tanwani this afternoon and ransacked it besides manhandling two persons on its premises. The city chowk police have arrested five persons in this connection, senior police inspector James Ambildhage said.
The attack was allegedly made in retaliation to the Mayor beating up an Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) labourer yesterday.
Mr Gurbachhan Khairuram Shiraswal, the labourer, had yesterday lodged a complaint with the city chowk police against Mr Tanwani accusing the latter of beating him.
The Mayor, however, has refuted the allegation and claimed that ''some people opposed to him must have prompted the labourer to level charges against him.'' Meanwhile, following the report of the attack, a number of Shiv Sena activists including MP Chandrakant Khaire and District Unit Sena President Pradeep Jaiswal rushed to Gulmandi area and demanded immediate arrest of the attackers.
