Ready to face any action, says Jayalalithaa

Chennai, Oct 15: AIADMK Supremo and Former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today said she was ready to face any kind of action from the DMK Government.

She was reacting to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's remarks that legal action would be taken against her for initiating violence in the first phase of civic polls held on Friday at a press conference here.

The AIADMK Supremo also also predicted a political realignment soon in Tamil Nadu.

Ms Jayalalithaa said people were well aware on who instigated the violence and those involved in atrocities in the civic polls.

Terming the incidents as 'unprecedented'in Indian history, she said the public were waiting for an opportunity to overthrow the 'autocratic' and 'fascist' Government.

To a question on the second phase of elections being conducted today, Ms Jayalalithaa said 'DMK goons were involved in booth capturing and bogus voting at suburban Thiruvottiyur and other parts of the state.' 'DMK rowdies did this in the presence of City Police Commissioner Letika Saran,' she alleged.

Seeking a fresh repoll in all the 155 wards of the Chennai Corporation, the AIADMK leader described Friday's happenings as a 'mere mockery of democracy.' Sharply reacting to Mr Karunanidhi's comments that the AIADMK was involved in violence in the 2001 civic elections, Ms Jayalalithaa questioned how Mr M K Stalin could have been elected as the Mayor if her party, which was in power then, had unleashed brutalities during the polls as claimed by the Chief Minister.
