Policeman shot dead, another wounded in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 15 (UNI) Suspected militants shot dead a policeman and critically wounded another at Lal Chowk here today, official sources said.

They said gunmen shot at the two police personnel from a very close range at Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, this afternoon.

They were critically wounded in the firing and immediately rushed to a hospital here, the sources said.

The sources said while constable Ghulam Mohiuddin, aresident of Chandoosa in Baramulla district, succumbed to wounds, constable Ghulam Hassan was battling life in the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura here.

The gunmen fled the scene after committing the crime, they said, adding a massive hunt has been launched to trace them.
