PM to lay foundation stone of urban water supply project

Jalandhar, Oct 15 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will lay the foundation stone of Rs 240 crore Guru Ramdas Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Treatment Project for provision of water supply pipeline, sewer and sewerage treatment plant for slums under the Amritsar Municipal Corporation.

Talking to reporters here today Punjab Parliamentary Secretary Rajkumar Verka said that the project would be initiated by the Prime Minister at a function in Amritsar on October 28.

Mr Verka said that the project would strengthen the infrastructure for these basic facilities in the holy city.

The Prime Minister's programme would be finalised at a meeting of high power committee in Chandigarh on October 18.

As per the tentative programme, Prime Minister would visit Ludhiana and Amritsar on October 27 and 28.
