Mulayam debaring people from casting votes: Salman
Allahabad, Oct 15 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Salman Khurshid here today slammed the UP chief minister for declaring the local bodies election during the coming festival season.
Talking to newspersons, Mr Khurshid alleged that Mr Yadav announced the election of local bodies with an idea that the people of both the communities would remain engaged in festive celebrations and would not turn up for voting.
''It was a conspiracy to debar people from casting their votes,'' he alleged. Claiming the present Chief Minister was openly flouting the model code of conducts by distributing unemployment allowance and ''kanya vidyadhan.'' He said his party workers would soon meet the Governor and Election Commission and demand action against Mr Yadav.
Mr Khirshid claimed the announcement by the convenor of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) George Fernandes that he would campaign for the Samajwadi Party clearly indicated that there was a hidden agreement between SP and NDA.
He further alleged large scale bungling in the recruitment of police personnel and said they were working as workers of the present government.
