Minister's outburst: UP scribes to wear black ribbons in assembly
Lucknow, Oct 15 (UNI) Scribes, covering the proceedings of the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly, would wear black ribbons to protest the recent remarks by a minister against the media.
The assembly, due to meet on October 27, would see scribes wearing black bands as they sit in the press gallery.
The UP Acceredited Correspondents' Committee would also write a letter of protest to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Committee held here today.
Rajendra Singh Rana, on the floor of the house last week, had claimed he often found it difficult to entertain scribes who attend his news conference in ''hoards.'' ''We have to shell out Rs 950 for serving samosas,'' he had said while participating in a discussion on sting operation carried out against UP ministers by a private news channel.
