Minister assures to resolve wather crisis in Jammu city
Jammu, Oct 15 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Minister of State for Public Hydrolic Engineering (PHE) and Flood Control Dr Romesh Chander Sharma has assured the people here that the ongoing water crisis in the city will soon be resolved.
The minister said the coalition government is committed to providing safe portable drinking water to the people of the state, especially to those areas which are still not connected properly.
He issued on-the-spot directions to the engineers to enhance the number of the water tankers for the affected areas.
The water supply here in the city was affected after the old intake pump house of Sitlee was damaged due to flash floods in the last two months. About 40 per cent of the population is facing water shortage now.
Mr Sharma assured the public that after completion of the pump house at Sitlee and commissioning of Bhoria filtration plant, Jammu willbecome self-sufficient in drinking water and added that by 2009 every village of the state would get safe drinking water.
