Manipur prepares for President's visit tomorrow
Imphal, Oct 15 (UNI) The Manipur government along with the state university officials were busy preparing for President APJ Abdul Kalam's visit to the state tomorrow.
Security arrangements have been tightened in view of the boycott call given by the militant outfit Revolutionary People's Front, Working Committee of the Apunba Lup, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), official sources said.
The organisations, which had called to boycott the president's visit, had also called a nine hour general strike in the state tomorrow.
Meanwhile, beautification works were going on in the city areas and the Manipur University, sources said.
The President is scheduled to address the tenth convocation of the Manipur University and later visit Mao and Churachandpur districts by air and later would depart for Mizoram the same day.
The President would also visit the Exotic Juice Limited at Mao, Senapati district and Bungmual High School at Churachandpur, district officials said.
