LanceNaik's body from Kashmir reaches Goa for cremation
Panaji, Oct 15 (UNI) The body of Lance Naik Ramachandra Shivaji (25), slain in anti-terrorist operations in Pulwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on October 12 was received here today for cremation at his native Cunchelim village tomorrow with full military honours.
The body, flown from the beleagured state to Goa was received by the soldiers of Corps of Signals under the leadership of Major Om Hajela. Later, the military and civil authorities placed wreathes on the body.
The body, shifted later to Goa Medical College mortuary, would be taken to his native village tomorrow for the last rites.
Shivaji, along with his colleagues in Rashtriya Rifles was engaged in several hours of gun fire with two militants hiding in the house of a advocate at Alyalppra in Shopian town of Pulwara.
He died when a debris of the house in which the militants were mounting attack, exploded and fell on him according to authorities.
