Govt procures 81 per cent paddy in Haryana
Chandigarh, Oct 13 (UNI) Over 16.58 lakh tonnes of paddy has so far arrived in the mandis of Haryana as against about 11.17 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
While stating this today, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that out of total arrival, over 11.8 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by the six government procuring agencies which was 81 per cent of the total procurement at the Minimum Support Price of Rs 610 per quintal, besides a bonus of Rs 40 per quintal and over 4.77 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and dealers.
He said that out of the total procurement, 5.15 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by HAFED, 3.8 lakh tonnes by Food and Supplies Department, 1.42 lakh tonnes by Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, 84,018 tonnes by Confed, 51,978 tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 6,639 tonnes by the Food Corporation of India.
He said that Kurukshetra district was leading in the state in paddy arrival with 4.22 lakh tonnes followed by Karnal with 3.25 lakh tonnes, Fatehabad 2.90 lakh tonnes and Kaithal with 2.25 lakh tonnes and Ambala with 80,786 tonnes.
