Dr Kalam stress for value added Education
Bangalore, Oct 15 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today called for imparting education, having a value system and stressed both parents and teachers had an equal responsibility in implementing this.
''It should involve two aspects -- the ability to have compelling and powerful dreams to ensure better future than they are now, and moral leadership that required a disposition to do the right thing and influence others also to do the right thing,'' Dr Kalam said, in his address at the Foundation for Unity of Religions and Enlightened Citizenship (FUREC) programme at Sri Adichunchanagri Kshethra, about 100 km from here.
''If the child misses this value based education in school, no government or society can establish a transparent society or a society with integrity," he said.
He said the best part for a person was his or her childhood and the learning period in School with prime learning environment between five to 17 years of age. At home, love and affection had to be imparted and not spent only on preparing school homework, study, eat, play or sleep.
''For children, school hours are the best time they have in their life and they need the best of environment and mission oriented learning backed with value system,'' the President noted.
