Congress launches campaign for Chamundeshwari by-poll

Mysore, Oct 15 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge today called upon the party workers to ensure victory of the party candidate and former Deputy Chief Minister Siddramiah in the coming by-election for Chamundeshwari assembly constituency in the city.

Speaking at a party convention, which was organisied to virtually launch the campaign for the by-election even though the Election Commission was yet to fix the date, he said that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy who visited the constituency many times in recent days was doing to in sheer desperation as Mr Siddaramaiah had deserted JD(S) to join the Congress.

People of the constituency knew Mr Kumaraswamy's ploy well and would teach him a lesson by defeating the JD(S), he said.

Mr Siddramiah speaking on the occasion came down heavily on the state government and the Chief Minister who he said had been trying to woo the people of the constituency with false promises. The Chief Minister's village visits was only a 'drama' and was to divert the people's attention from the mining bribery issue, he said.

Union Minister of State M V Rajashekharan, Amabarish, Roshan Baig, leader of the council H K Patil and others leaders also addressed the party workers on the occasions.
