CII to promote WB as an investment destination
Kolkata, Oct 15: CII has said it was working with the government agencies to promote West Bengal as an attractive investment destination.
The industry body by now with the corrdination with the government has organised three partnership summits which had specific sessions on West Bengal as an attractive investment destination, Mr Bushen Raina, who took over as CIIs (Eeastern Region) chairman, said here.
The CII also organised a meeting in Singapore to showcasing the state and its potential to foreign investors, he said.
CII was jointly organising Euro-India-2007 with European Union in Goa in February next year, in which West Bengal would take part, Mr Raina said.
Turning to CIIs this years theme of Competitiveness or sustainable and inclusive growth in the East, he said with the opening up of the Indian economy, competitiveness has become the key word in all industries and organisations.
Keeping this in mind, CII has rolled out specialized divisions to work on competitiveness in quality, energy and environment, he said.
CII was also working on some special projects of affirmative action which included providing hands on training to SCs and STs as masons and hospital staff. A national council for affirmative action was being set up to guide and oversee the programme, he said.
