Chola period idol unearthed
Thanjavur, Oct 15 (UNI) A panchaloha idol belonging to the Chola Period was unearthed at the Sri Iravatheeswaraswamy Temple at Dharasuram near Kumbakonam yesterday.
With this a total of 12 ancient idols had been recovered from the 12th century temple in the last one week during the repair and renovation work undertaken by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The one-foot idol was found in the Alankaramandapam of the temple, according to ASI sources who added they would continue with the work for another two months.
