Budget allocation for health sector should be increased: Governor

Agartala, Oct 15 (UNI) Tripura Governor Dinesh Nandan Sahaya has urged the state government to increase budget allocation for the health sector.

Inaugurating the 6th Annual conference of the Association of Physicians of India (Tripura state branch) here yesterday, the Governor said the state government should allocate 7 to 8 percent of the total budget for the improvement of health infrastructure in the state.

Appreciating the steps taken to improve the overall health scenario in the state, Mr Sahaya said the state health sector will develop a model with support from the two medical colleges.

Health Minister Tapan Chakraborty has expressed concern over the health services in the state, particularly in the rural areas.

"The health services is in a deplorable condition, particularly in the rural areaa though the government is trying to change the scenario," the Minister said.
