Book on dam project's impact on human life released

Guwahati, Oct 15 (UNI) A young journalist from Asom has come up with a book on his experience with people affected due to the Subansiri Valley hydel power project in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh.

Amar Jyoti Borah, whose maiden publication 'An Insight into the Outburst -- The Subansiri Valley Fury' released here yesterday, said his book dealt with the lives of the people affected badly by the project.

He said, ''I have met these families when I visited the places during an official assignment.'' ''Their woes touched me and I felt it necessary to tell their tales,'' he added.

His compilation includes sagas of landlords transformng into daily wage labourers and people foresaking ancestral property in the name of development.

Asom and Meghalaya correspondent of 'Down to Earth', Mr Borah said he strived to bring the sufferings of the people to the fore through the book.
