Ban on bursting of fire crackers at night
Phagwara, Oct 15: With Diwali around the corner, the local administration has decided to impose a ban on the use of fire crackers between 2200 hours and 0600 hours, the next day.
The ban will be notified in a day or two on the public broacast SDM Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal today stated.
The ban is being imposed as the noise and air pollution caused by the bursting of fire crackers was likely to create problems for the old and the infrm.
''There is an urgent need to restricting the usage of crackers,'' he said.
The order has also specified that fire crackers are prohibited in the silence zones which encaspsulates an area of 100-metre around hospitals, educational institutions, courts and religious places.
