AP to start new irrigation project on Godavari by April,2007

Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the foundation stone for the proposed Chevella-Pranahita Irrigation project on Godavari river would be laid by the end of April 2007.

Participating in a district development review meeting at the Collector Office, Dr Reddy said the Government would receive the final report of the project by end of January 2007. The work of this proposed project would be completed in next three years, he added.

Expressing satisfaction over the works taken up at Sripada Sagar flood canal, the Chief Minister said immediately after completing the pending work of the project, another 3.5 lakh acres of land would come under irrigation in next three years in the district.

He also directed the officials to complete the work of Mid Manaru project on ''warfooting.'' UNI AP GKT VD HT2125
