5-year-old girl killed as fire-crackers go off accidentally

Kolhapur, Oct 15 (UNI) A five-year-old girl was burnt to death after fire-crackers got accidentally ignited in a grocery shop at Abdullat village in Shirol taluka of this district.

Police said the village was without light last night. The grocery shop owner Santosh Chavan lit a candle, which accidentally fell off his hand over a box of fire-crackers, igniting them.

Chavan's daughter, Prajakta, who was standing nearby, received severe burn injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The girl succumbed to her injuries early this morning, police added.
