Zinc slab crosses Rs 20,000-mark, Tin, nickel, non-ferrous rises
Mumbai, Oct 14 (UNI) The Zinc slab today crossed the Rs 20,000 mark, tin slab, nickel and non-ferrous metals rose on account of fresh demand, while ferrous metals declined on thin buying support, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.
In the ferrous section, copper heavy, copper utensils, brass utensils and brass cuttings eased by Rs 100 each per quintal on increased offers by stocks.
In the non-ferrous category, copper wire bars and zinc slab hiked by Rs 200 each per quintal and lead ingots went up by Rs 50 per quintal on increase of fresh demand.
Tin slab and nickel cathode shot up by Rs 25 and Rs 50 per kg respectively on heavy demand.
Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 37,400, copper utensils - Rs 32,600, brass utensils - Rs 22,800, brass cuttings - Rs 26,500 and aluminium utensils - Rs 10,900.
Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 41,000, aluminium ingots - Rs 13,100, zinc slab - Rs 20,000, lead ingots - Rs 7,150, tin slab - Rs 550 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 1,960 (per kg).
