UPA to constitute new rehab policy : Mahto

Jamshedpur, Oct 14 (UNI) Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto said the UPA government will draft a new rehabilitation policy in the state.

''However, we would review the one constituted by the NDA government,'' he said.

Mr Mahto after assuming his post in the Koda cabinet said his first priority is rehabilitating the people displaced due to setting up of industries.

'' The state government would not hesitate to adopt the 'good things' of the previous policy but would discard the points which are against the interests of the displaced ones,'' he said.

Mr Mahto, who is incharge of the industries, forests and environment, said the new industries would be invited only after the formation of new policy.

The Arjun Munda government had signed MoUs for industries in the Kolhan region alone ignoring other parts of the state, alleged Mr Mahto. UPA government would invite the entrepreneurs in the Santhal Parganas too, he added.

He ruled out any differences among partners of the UPA over the allocation of portfolios and said, '' the independent MLAs, were part of the NDA and will soon adopt the UPA's style of functioning.'' UNI BDG PP MS BS1512
