UNICEF lauds MP's efforts in combating mortality

Bhopal, Oct 14 (UNI) UNICEF has praised the efforts being made by the Madhya Pradesh government in combating maternal and infant mortality and hoped that it would be carried forward.

UNICEF Country Director Cecillo Adoma, who met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today, appreciated the positive steps to enrol more girls in schools, improving quality of education and increasing recruitment to vacant posts in different sectors.

Mr Adoma also introduced the new UNICEF state representative for Madhya Pradesh Hemid El Bashir.

While reiterating the state's commitment to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, Mr Chouhan lauded the UNICEF's support in various initiatives in the areas of combating malnutrition, supporting child health, water and sanitation, education and rural development.
