Trader injured in CRPF bullet
Silchar, Oct 14 (UNI) A trader was seriously injured when the CRPF opened fire at him at Ramnagar area in south Assam last night.
The CRPF personnel has been maintaining strict vigil, along the National Highway 53, on the eve of President's visit to Assam University, Silchar next week.
Police said the trader was returning home in Karimganj Road from Tarapur locality when the CRPF signaled the vehicle to stop for a regular checking at Ramnagar area.
However, when the auto rickshaw driver did not obey and one of the CRPF men opened fire at the speeding vehicle.
The trader was injured rushed to Silchar Medical College Hospital.
CRPF's Kashipur-based Assistant Commandant Anil Kumar Singh today said acting on a tip off, the jawans were waiting for an armed gang who were supposed to pass through the stretch at midnight. When the auto rickshaw did not stop, the vehicle was a natural target of the CRPF men.
