Surya Roshni bags national awards for safety

New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) Lighting company Surya Roshni's Uttaranchal plant in Kashipur has bagged the 'National Safety Award' for its performance in industrial safety during 2005 in achieving ''lowest average frequency rates'' by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

The company has also been conferred the 'Energy Efficient Unit Award' for its efforts towards achieving global norms with several improvements in electrical and thermal projects at the national award for Excellence in Energy Management 2006 conducted by CII-Godrej GBC.

Surya Roshini, with a 100 per cent backward integration, sells 4.25 crore tube lights, 14.4 crore bulbs and other energy efficient lamps every year across the country.

The company's total turnover is about Rs 1,200 crore, out of which its lighting division counts for Rs 400 crore, while the balance comes from the steel tube division.

The company's marketing network comprises of over 3,00,000 retailers, 3,000 distributors and 30 branch offices acrosss the country.
