Standup campaign against poverty on Oct 16

Bhopal, Oct 14: Several thousand people will join the ''Standup'' campaign taking a pledge to remove poverty from Madhya Pradesh on October 16 as part of the United Nations worldwide campaign.

Organised by NGO ''Madhyvan'', the campaign's state-level function will be held at Indore, wherein Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and UN representative Salil Shetty will join about 50,000 others to take the pledge at 1100 hrs.

Similar functions will be held at all educational institutions and government offices on the day, NGO activist Awadhesh Kumar said.
