Sibal announces projects for bamboo development

Kohima Oct 14: Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal has said that the Centre is studying a road map to make bamboo as a resource for economic development.

Laying the foundation stone of the state Bamboo Resource Centre (NBRC) at Dimapur yesterday, Mr Sibal urged the people of the state to create a peaceful atmosphere for economic prosperity.

He assured that the Union government would continue the peace process.

Alluding the allegations made against the Centre for its step-motherly treatment towards the people of North Eastern region, Mr Sibal said some measure have been taken like setting up of 100 KW electrical gasifier, completion for bamboo processing facility at Dimapur and 25 MW bamboo gasifier at Razhephema village.

Mr Sibal, who was on a two-day visit to Nagaland, met Governor Shyamal Datta yesterday and later met the top state government officials here.
