SFI demands National Education Commission

Gulbarga, Oct 14: Students Federation of India (SFI) today demanded the Union Government to set up a National Education Commission to suggest measures on National Education Policy and monitor education system in the country.

Addressing a press conference here, SFI Karnataka unit Vice President Vijaya Kumar Doddamani informed that the SFI would launch ''all India Education campaign''on November Four in Bangalore for which Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau Member Sitaram Yechuri would attend.

''The main objective of the campaign was to uphold social rights, mounting pressure on the government to implement 27 per cent reservations to OBCs and Bill on education rights'' he added.

He welcomed the State government's move to introduce teaching of English in schools from Standard One. However, before implementing necessary infrastructure has to be developed as at present there is no English teachers in many schools.
