Samata party candidate files nomination for Nalanda seat

Patna, Oct 14 (UNI) Samata Party president Brahmanand Mandal today filed his nomination papers for Nalanda lok sabha constituency's by-election scheduled to be held on November six.

State election office said that its received two nominations for Nalanda and three for Bhagalpur Lok Sabha seat.

Apart from Mr Mandal, an independent candidate filed nomination for Nalanda while MLA Pradeep Choubey is eyeing the Bhagalpur seat where BJP heavyweight Shahanawaz Hussain is an official candidate for safron brigade.

Mr Pankaj Tiwari of Ambedkar National Congress and Neeraj Kumar of National Progressive Party also submitted their papers for Bhagalpur constituency.

The nomination papers will be accepted till October 16 and scrutiny of the papers is on the following day.

The last date for withdrawal of nomination is October 19.

Polling would be held on November six while counting will take place on November nine.

Nalanda and Bhagalpur lok sabha seats fell vacant after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi resigned following their entry into state legislative politics.
