Kozhikode, Oct 14 (UNI) The mortal remains of Communist Party of India (Marxist) legislator Mathai Chacko, who died of leukaemia in Kochi yesterday, were buried with full state honours at his native Thiruvambadi near here today.

The burial was held at a specially erected grave at the local CPI(M) office was witnessed by a galaxy of political leaders amid shouting of slogans by thousands of party activists gathered to pay their last respects to the departed soul.

Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, CPI (M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, Assembly Speaker K Radhakrishan, Ministers M A Baby, P K Gurudasan, Elamaram Kareem, A K Balan, Paloli Muhammedkutty, Thomas Issac, MPs P Satheedevi, A Viajayaraghan, P V Abdulwahab, BJP state president P S Sreedhran Pillai and Youth Congress state President A P Anil Kumar were present at the burial.

The body of the youth leader was brought here from Kochi last evening and kept at the party district committee office to enable the people to pay their tributes.
